Roving Products 11’ Rover’s and 12’ Float rods – the philosophy.
We think we have created the perfect set of roving rods for river anglers. If you like to travel light and not compromise on your tackle then you have probably been looking for one of our rods. Twelve foot rods just seem to long and heavy, often the balance isn’t right and they make life hard when fighting big fish under your feet. Of course, if you’re the sort of angler that puts a rod in the rests all day then this won’t matter so much! But, if like us you like to rove from swim to swim and fish opportunistically, then you’ll love these. All of our range have been created by Chris Holley, river guide and professional barbel specialist and we have used the highest specification components available.

First we needed a light but sensitive blank but with buckets of power lower down. To our mind the only such offering is Harrison’s awesome Torrix range. To maximise the potential of a blank like this we chose Fuji’s amazing SiC’s for their ultra smooth finish and braid friendliness. We also think the handle and reel seat should be functional but attractive, so we chose a unique seat and a 22” cork handle that easily passes across the chest in tight spots.

Roving Products Cork Handle
This relatively short handle is favoured by many top anglers and also avoids striking the ground while ledgering in a sitting or kneeling position. Pair with a fixed spool or centrepin, ideally nice and light to maintain balance and ‘feel’. We have finished the rod with a white top for high visibility and purple whippings throughout create a stunning product. The rods are lovingly hand made by one of the UK’s premier rod builders ensuring that the finished product is something you’ll want to keep picking up trip after trip. Chris is a professional river guide and his rods clock up thousands of hours on the bank and don’t need replacing.
